9/11/08 - Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, Happy Land Park, Kakabeka Falls

Captain’s Blog
Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, Happy Land Park,
We woke this morning to heavy rainfall that lasted most of the day. No hikes this morning as planned. Ron spent time organizing paperwork and brochures while I cleaned the RV. I have two tons of laundry so we need to get a site with full hook-ups today.

We left Sleeping Giant fairly late and headed out to Thunder Bay. We stopped at the Terry Fox Memorial and spent a short time there. The Memorial is very beautiful and inspirational. He was a very brave young man.

We pulled into Happy Land Campground around 2 pm in the pouring rain. Around 7 PM the rain stopped and we headed out to Kakabeka Falls. Kakabeka Falls is compared to Niagara Falls because of the height and power of the falls. They did not disappoint and are a close second to Niagara.

Today was a slow day for us. Not the usual run, run, run. I did get all the laundry done and managed to make a nice dinner for us. The cooler we bought has been working out quite well although I do miss having a fully functioning fridge.
Tomorrow we will be leaving Canada and getting back to the USA. It will be good to get back to better gas and food prices. I think I mentioned it before but Canada is very expensive!!!!
